Bethune is a town in the north west of France about 100 miles away from Paris. We are connected with Junior and Sue Damaceno who lead the baptist church in the town. This church is the only protestant church of Bethune, which has a population of 28,000 people. It was founded over 100 years ago, but has remained very small throughout most of its history, supported most of the time by pastors staying for a relatively short time, or by pastors from churches in neighbouring towns. Junior, a Brazilian missionary with WEC international was working in Lille until the church in Bethune called him to be their Pastor in 2002. We have grown in our relationship with Junior & Sue through Openheart, and are finding more and more ways that we can support each others ministries. Bethune is about 1 hr 20 min drive from Oostende, so there is great opportunity for the growing connection with our church family in Belgium.
